At Homestyle Kitchens & Bedrooms, our story is proudly rooted in tradition, craftsmanship, and family values.
Founded in 2010 by father and son team Paul and John O’Hara, Homestyle represents the continuation of a legacy that began decades earlier. Paul’s journey started at Cochrane’s shipyard in Selby, where he trained as a joiner and cabinetmaker. It was here, along the banks of the River Ouse, that Paul honed the precise skills required to craft solid wood furniture for the region’s finest ships.
After being invited to fit some of the very first fully fitted kitchens in Selby, Paul found his true passion in transforming homes. This led to the launch of his first company in 1984, Home Care Selby Ltd, which went on to become one of the largest independent kitchen retailers in the country, winning multiple awards for quality, service, and design.
John, inspired by his father’s dedication, chose to follow a similar path. Before joining the family business, he trained as a joiner with another family member, Michael O’Hara, also a former Cochrane’s apprentice. From York College to national shopfitting projects across the UK, John built his own reputation for quality craftsmanship before returning home to launch Homestyle with his father, Paul.
Today, Homestyle combines over 40 years of experience with a modern, customer-first approach. From their welcoming showroom at 32 Church Hill in Selby, the family offers a refreshingly honest service: no high-pressure sales tactics, no deposits to create your design plan, and no hidden costs.
